ShoeandbagSwaps.com combines the popularity of buying and swapping new and used shoes and handbags with contemporary social networking features all in one site. Buying and swapping used shoes and handbags also promotes re-use which is good for the environment and offers users an economical way of updating their wardrobe. No membership fee, commissions, selling fees, points, tokens, etc. Simply post your items, find great bargains, make new friends, and have fun!.
Create a Closet
Provide your email, zip code and choose a cool Closet Name! All other fields are optional.
Personalize and organize your closet and post items for swap, sale, or both.
Use the sites social features (email, chat, calendar, forum, etc.) make friends and have fun!
-- HOW TO BUY --
You must first Create a Closet if you want to buy an item.
Search the site for items that interest you. Use our detailed search feature to narrow down your search by type, color, size, style, condition and/or keyword.
If you have questions for the seller, you can use our email and instant closet-to-closet chat features to communicate with the seller.
If the closet owner uses PayPal as a payment method, simply click the “buy” button and you will be automatically directed to the PayPal gateway. PayPal allows you to send payments immediately to the seller using your credit card or bank account. From here, simply make shipping arrangements with the seller (your shipping address is provided by PayPal) and then be sure to rate the closet after you receive your item.
If the closet owner uses payment methods other than PayPal (check, money order, etc.), simply click the “buy” button and both the buyer and seller receive internal and external email notifications indicating a purchase has been made. The seller will then send you an email and/or instant message to exchange payment and shipping information. Be sure to rate the closet after you receive your item.
--HOW TO SELL--
You must first Create a Closet if you want to sell an item.
Select “add item to closet” and complete all the description and pricing fields. Select “buy” or “swap/buy” as the exchange type.
If a buyer has questions for the seller, use our email and instant closet-to-closet chat features to communicate with the buyer and answer any questions prior to the purchase.
If you have a PayPal account and chose PayPal as your payment method, then when the buyer clicks the “buy” button, they will be automatically directed to the PayPal gateway. This allows the buyer to pay you quickly and easily.
If you accept payment methods other than PayPal (check, money order, etc.), then when the buyer clicks the “buy” button, both the buyer and seller receive internal and external email notifications indicating a purchase has been made. You then need to make arrangements with the buyer via email and/or instant message to exchange payment and shipping information.
After payment has been received via PayPal, mail or other method, send the item to the buyer’s address specified via email and/or instant chat (if using PayPal, buyer’s address will be provided). Be sure to rate the closet after you receive payment.
-- HOW TO SWAP --
We spent a great deal of time trying to develop a swap process that would provide some structure and organization for swapping your items. We’ll walk you through the process below. Keep in mind you could also work out a swap deal using our email and instant closet-to-closet chat features as well.
You must first Create a Closet if you want to swap an item.
Select “add item to closet” and complete all the description and pricing (if also for sale) fields. Select “swap” or “swap/buy” as the exchange type.
Search the site for swap items that interest you. Use our detailed search feature to narrow down your search by type, color, size, style, brand, condition, exchange type and/or keyword.
Find a swap item you wish to swap for and click “swap”. This will take you to the swap screen.
There are 2 sides to the swap screen: the left side is the item you just selected to swap for (Closet B) and the right side is the item or items to be swapped from your closet (Closet A). You can leave your side blank (let Closet B view your closet items and decide) or select something from your closet. When finished, press “send offer” and Closet B will receive an internal and external email. Closet B can then view the swap offer, and make changes (if any).
Once both closets agree on the items to be swapped, either closet can lock either side of the swap screen. Both sides have to be locked before the swap offer moves into a “finalize” state. When both sides of the screen are locked, a “finalize” button appears and both sides have to press “finalize” to complete the swap offer. This transaction will now appear in your “view your swaps” link which registers all completed (e.g. “finalized”) swaps. Note: At anytime, either closet can click “not interested” and the swap offer is cancelled.
After the swap offer is finalized by both closets, exchange shipping information using email or instant closet-to-closet chat and ship the swap items to each other. Be sure to rate the closet after you receive your swap item(s).
--SOCIAL FEATURES--
You must first Create a Closet if you want to use our social features.
Fun profiles - Our profiles allow members to provide as little or as much fun information about themselves as they wish. Upload your own favorite photo (may be subject to approval).
Internal Email - provides a safe secure internal email environment for members to communicate without revealing a personal email address if they choose not to.
External Email notifications - we notify you via your external email when you have a pending transaction or someone is trying to get in touch with you.
On-line now and Instant Messaging - if you see that a closet owner is on-line you can immediately ask them a question about posted items or just say "hi" via our on-line now and instant messaging features. This gives closet owners an opportunity to ask questions real time and get an immediate response - and on your way to getting a great bargain faster!
Favorite Closets – find other closet owners like yourself (same size, some style preferences, brand preferences, etc.) and add them to your “My Favorite closets” list for on-going communications.
Closet owner ratings- With any on-line community, a program for assuring the validity of its members is unfortunately, necessary. We provide a simple rating system that assists members in deciding who they want to conduct transactions with.
Home Page Random Closet Item Photos - Every time a user comes to the home page or refreshes on the home page, a new set of random photos from all closets are displayed. This is essentially free advertising for our closet owners on our home page.
Advertised Featured Items - members can pay to have their posted items displayed on the home page via the ”upgrade to featured item” link.
Unique Swap Process - Our unique swap process facilitates and provides structure to swapping items. See “How to Swap” for details.
Automated Pay Process using PayPal – If you use PayPal as your payment method, buyers are automatically directed to the PayPal gateway for payment.
Events Calendar - Our events calendars allows our members to post swap parties and events.
Saved Searches - Search for an item, save that search, and automatically be notified when a member posts an item that matches your search.
Latest News and Daily Poll – Keep up with fashion trends via our latest news section on the home page. Our fun daily poll is a great way to give your fashion or opinion 2 cents every day!
Donations - We want to also provide a quick and easy way for our members to give back to the community and help others in need. See a list of donation sites for consideration and submit your own favorite charity to be added to the list (see our "Donate" link).
